I would choose E.
E resolves the discrepancy in the stimulus.
The difference in the red wine consumption has been narrowing down as the consumption is declining dramatically among young adults in France.
So one would expect that, the heart disease rates increase in France and would converge with that of US.
But as stated in E, if heart disease does not manifest itlsef until middle age, it would seem that heart disease rate is not increasing in France and hence heart disease rates in France would not converge with that of US.
