Which of the two identical scores?

What do adcoms usually do when an applicant has two identical scores? I took the test twice within a two-month period. However, my most recent quant is significantly lower than before. Given the importance of the quant section, I would rather have the adcoms look at the older score. If someone can shine some light on this, I would really appreciate it.

If I'm not wrong, I think it doesn't matter which one you list, because in the official GMAT report both scores will be shown (incl. the breakdown). Anybody have any other info?

Hmm. I see what you are saying. However, the adcoms still have to base their decision on a given score. Certainly, if one reports a score of 600 and a score of 700, they will see both, but will count the higher score. However, I am not sure what the adcoms would do in a situation where the two scores are identical. I believe that I should have the right to choose which of the two scores is actually considered as part of my application - especially given that the two scores are within 2 months of one another. However, I do not know if the adcoms will see it that way. I hope that some of the other pros chime in.

Hi Alek

I also scored a 640 twice but with 1 year's gap
2007 - 640 (48,28 )
2008 - 640 (47,31)

Similar case as yours... I've applied to different schools in the latter attempt...I'm also deciding to put all this at the back of my mind and start writing some good essays... It would b nice if any1 can put some light on this topic....

@post#3: you do not have any "right" to choose. All you need to provide is your GMAT score. The adcom gets your GMAT test history & your prospective b-schools can decide according to their "selection policy". Leave it to them. Ultimately GMAT & its sectional splits has standard deviations. you should be fine. Some schools even pick best of quant & verbal scores.

my two cents on this:

Let's face it. The ppl reading the apps are just that ... they are people. It is pretty difficult to predict how an individual will view a certain circumstance such as this one. Ultimately, nobody at the Bschool will tell you that you were admitted or dinged because of your variance in scores between two tests.

We also all know that the schools will see the entire test taking history. So, at that point each adcom officer may judge the scores differently. If it was me in your situation, I would not worry about it and work my hardest on apps.

This was probably not a helpful post at all. But I thought I would share my thoughts.
