Application out of the ordinary

by pvestia » Sun Mar 13, 2016 8:57 am
Hello,
I will briefly summarize my application profile, Undergrate low GPA 2.8, high PostGraduate Diploma GPA 3.8, high GMAT score 720 (aiming). I'm trying to apply next your for one of the tier 1 Master in Finance or MBA.

Now the full resume :)

In my first year of collage I applied to University of Évora, there I developed an academic economic magazine along with my colleagues. In 2013 I attended a summer internship in Lisbon, during that time I fall in love with the city, what made me transfer to ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics and Management (one of the top B-schools were in Portugal). I was always a party boy and never worries about school, mainly because I had not yet discovered my passion and what aroused me to pursue career. In my last year (present year) I discover my passion for finance, mainly for portfolio management. And in this semestre I was completely devoted and ended up with a 3.8 GPA, and start to consider my future. I have done some reasearch and i was thinking to do next year a PgDip here in Portugal or in United Kingdom and finish with a high GPA something like 3.8/3.9 to show I'm getting serious about my academics. I haven't take any test to prove my english proficiency so far, but last summer I enrolled in the British Council English classes in order to perform the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) examination in May this year. I intend to also perform the GMAT this summer and aiming for a 720. I have a strong EC throughout my adolescence, I has always been very active in my community and in the ninth grade with my class mates, we conducted a car race event, where the awards came from donations we acquired asking only to local traders and small businesses. In 2014 I decided to join the local youth association, having initially belonging to the supervisory board and later managing the funds sent by the Institute Portuguese of Sports and Youth.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Sorry for my English i still improving my skills.

Thanks for sharing your profile.

As you have identified, your lower GPA need to be addressed. You are correct to see the GMAT, and postgraduate diploma as opportunities to mitigate concerns about your GPA and overall academic potential.

Additionally, play up your strong EC activities, and community involvement, while displaying passion and focus about your work. These would help show your potential to contribute to the experience of your peers and the alumni community.

WIsh you all the best!
