Profile Evaluation | 8+ Years Exp in IT

by roni111 » Mon Feb 22, 2016 8:06 am
Hello,

I have not taken the GMAT yet but submitting my profile for evaluation.
I've been working as a Team Lead and see my career as stagnating in terms of advancement and new challenging work. Hence looking for an MBA.

Work Experience.
I have been working for more than 8 years in the IT sector. I've been associated with leading IT consulting firms (not Indian). Have worked as a Team leader (leading team of 5 members) and a Subject mater expert. I also have worked in Germany for a considerable period of time where I was the CoE for the Indian team. I was also the onsite coordinator for the new members coming to Germany .

Acads:-
My Acads in the initial years are not too good but I picked up later. I guess I'm a late bloomer.
I already hold a postgraduate degree of MCA (Masters in Computer Applications) which I completed 8 years ago and after which I had no full time education.

MCA - 67% (distinction in last 2 sems)
BCA - 61% (First class)
XII - 51%
X - 64%
SAP Certification - Stood first in the entire batch.

Extra-curricular activities:
Have been volunteering for NGO's for animal welfare.
Worked with NGO for underprivileged children welfare
Worked with NGO (Akshar Bharti) for setting up book libraries in remote rural areas.
I've been a part of the Editorial team of the monthly magazine in my organization.

With regards to the work experience , what realistically I should aim for . Full time or Executive MBA ? I am looking for an MBA preferably in US only.
Need your guidance.

Thank you for sharing your profile.

Your leadership experience, international exposure and extracurricular activities will help your profile. Doing well on the GMAT will help show academic potential.

For an MBA program, your age and work experience will be slightly above the average age of most programs but it should not be a major concern. For the EMBA, you would be on the younger side and most of.

If you want a broader exposure and considering possible career change, then the MBA might the better fit, especially since you are open to moving and doing it full-time.

Wishing you all the best!

Thank you so much for evaluating my profile.
How much GMAT score I should target for a good school ? I am looking at top 20 colleges preferably with not very high fee structure .

Scoring 730 or above would help address potential concerns about academic potential. This is higher than the average GMAT of your likely target schools, but you would like to stand out from your applicant pool.
