Hi everyone,
I am a college senior applying to HBS 2+2, and I'm hoping someone can provide an educated opinion on my situation. I should also mention that my undergraduate degree will be in general management with a focus on finance, and I will be working in investment banking upon graduation with previous summer internships in investment banking, private equity, and private wealth management.
I scored 740 (48Q,44V) the first time I wrote the GMAT but decided to rewrite the test mostly because I was displeased with my unbalanced score. I was able to improve my score to 770, but there are a couple caveats. First, I was frustratingly unable to improve my quant score (48Q,51V). Secondly, I managed my time poorly on the IR section this time, so my IR score decreased from 8 to 6. Nonetheless, I am obviously planning to apply with the more recent score.
My question is fairly simple: how will admissions view my mediocre quant and IR scores in the context of my application? I see two possible scenarios:
1) They will not be materially concerned with a 48Q and 6IR because my academic/professional background is heavily quantitative.
2) They will wonder why (and be concerned that) I did not perform better on quant and IR given that my academic/professional background is heavily quantitative.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
