GMAT Practice Guide

by shahfahad » Tue Nov 10, 2015 12:48 pm
Hi.

Can i get links to websites where i can practice and improve Quantitative and Verbal questions for free. For example, on this website (Beatthegmat) you can check the forums and practice those questions. I found another website for quant as well.
https://my.bellcurves.com/practice
Can i get some other links/resources as well where i could maximize my practice and improve my chances of scoring 720+.

I'll try not to take that personally :)

You'll certainly want to check out the free tests from mba.com: https://www.mba.com/us/the-gmat-exam/pre ... tware.aspx

And I know you mentioned free, but I do think the Question/Exam Pack combo from mba.com is a worthwhile investment: https://www.mba.com/us/store/store-catal ... ction.aspx

Hi shahfahad,

You've defined what you're looking for, but you haven't offered much information about how your studies have been going so far.

1) How long have you been studying?
2) What resources have you used so far?
3) How have you been scoring on your practice CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

4) When are you planning to take the GMAT?

DavidG@VeritasPrep: I am sorry but i did not mean it in that way. By trusted i mean resources that GMAT exam takers have themselves used to get a very high score. Personally, i find veritasprep as a very good source and thanks for the link to the question bank :)

Brent@GMATPrepNow: I am currently studying from GMAT Prep Now video lectures and watching all the video lectures, also solving all the questions listed in the video lectures + additional practice questions mentioned below the video tab. I think i have improved a lot. Also, i am relying on these video lectures MOSTLY (90%) to cover my GMAT Syllabus. I'll just use other resources to PRACTICE questions. I will study GMAT Official Guide (Quant + Verbal as well). So in summary, my study plan/resource for GMAT is:
1) GMAT Prep Now entire video lectures course + practice questions on Beat the GMAT
2) GMAT Official Guide ( Quant + Verbal )
3) Practice questions from online websites. But i dont want to pay for the questions. I dont think it is worth paying. You can get so many questions online on various websites so you just need to find the resources. Also, i think that once you get your CONCEPTS and TECHNIQUE (the GMAT question attacking strategy) right you have a good chance of scoring. Therefore, i dont want to BUY any resource.

Rich.C@EMPOWERgmat.: I have not taken an actual ENTIRE practice test yet but i have solved SEVERAL questions online, from websites, Beat the GMAT and Official Guide as well. I am using GMAT Prep Now and Beat the GMAT as my main resource and have been studying for around 2-3 weeks. I am planning to give GMAT in April or May 2016. My main aim is to get into a business school with scholarship so i want to make every part of my application really good.

Also, can you tell me that does scoring really high (99th percentile) in GMAT helps you get scholarship or CONTRIBUTES in getting scholarship?

Thanks. :)

Without question. My understanding is that scholarship decisions are made on the basis of your entire application, but anecdotally, students with elite GMAT scores are more likely to be offered scholarship money. Perhaps the folks over in admissions consulting can offer more detail: https://www.beatthegmat.com/ask-an-mba-a ... t-f40.html
