Which MBA program is suitable for energy issues

Hi.

I am looking for MBA programs associated with energy and sustainability affairs. I have checked several forums about the schools present programs with energy orientation but I have a big question in my mind that as a person with a major in engineering an looking for management in energy which concentrations except finance are suitable.

Your question is a bit confusing because you're asking for electives but talking about an industry focus. Some schools (like the ones below) have a focus on energy but what electives you choose depend on what you actually want to do. Finance is always a solid option but it really depends.

So...the answer to that is...all of them? I mean, energy firms need marketers and finance folks and ops people. They need everything. So I guess I'm just confused by your question. The better question would be what do you want to do for an energy firm? Because there is no answer to the specific question you put forward. Does that make sense?

To echo Bhavik, energy companies look for both generalists and specialists. The leading energy companies have leadership development programs which you can find on our Leadership Rotational Programs page, some of which are functionally-focused while others are not. For example, the PG&E MBA Leadership Program is general and PG&E only recruits from 4 core schools: Mendoza (Notre Dame), Haas (Berkeley), Ross (Michigan) and Anderson (UCLA). Chevron's Commercial Skills Development Program has rotations in Strategy and Planning, Business Development, Asset Commercialization and Decision Analysis. Chevron, though, also has finance-focused Leadership, human resources-focused, and operations-focused Development Programs called the Chevron Finance M.B.A. Development Program, Chevron Human Resources Development Program and Chevron Procurement/Supply Chain M.B.A. Development Program. ACCOINA used to have an Energy Clean Tech Leadership Program (CTLP) but that link no longer seems active.

Again another related question!
After a while I have explored different MBA programs now a bit personal problem has come up!
Actually, as you may guess I have major in mech. engineering and my work at the present time is not closely related to management. However, I want to go through this field by MBA but the big question for me is that how to start and what to expect? In other words due to wide perspective of MBA I am a bit confused where I would reach after MBA. It may first appear to be very rudimentary but still I don't know what exactly MBA would award me;
Let me make it more clear by an example. For example dear Bhavik says that energy firms need both the marketing and financial. Then with this idea how can differentiate between different schools like Mccombs (UT) or Foster (UW) because both have marketing or finance!
