I get few CR question correct

by src_saurav » Sun Apr 05, 2015 9:53 pm
Hi,

1)My problem is that i am able to narrow down my answer choices easily to two answers but i always end up making the wrong choices out of the remaining choices .I notice that the answer always says that it is a very tempting answer but......

How should i improve this??

Hi src_saurav,

CR questions tend to be written around certain 'logical patterns', so part of your practice should focus on learning to recognize those patterns. In addition, the wrong answers tend to fall into certain patterns, so learning to spot those patterns (even the subtle ones) will also be helpful.

From a strategic perspective, if your typical approach to a CR question is to eliminate answer choices until you get to the correct answer, then THAT is not a particularly effective way to work. You'll have to adapt your approach, which will take some time, but the more effective tactic is usually to read the question & prompt, take some notes, think about what the correct answer will LIKELY state.....THEN look at the 5 answer choices.

What resources have you been using during your studies?
Have you learned any strategies for CR from a book/class/tutor?

Hiya,

I actually read the prompt. Then find the conclusion premise and assumption. Then think of a possible assumption/weakener/strengthener/paradox and find the answer.I read the 5 answers, split them and narrow down to say 2 answers. Here i find the hardest thing to do is to find the best answer.I try to find which negates or strenthens the conclusion. But it turns out that some twist and turn happens and it is the wrong answer.....Please help...
