CAN a preposition be followed by a non-finite clause?

expectations of a recovery BEING underway
many of her colleagues CONVINCED of

for/of/etc + Noun + Noun Modifier participle phrase.

A few examples in the OG13:
SC7: of miniature eyes called ommatidia
SC29: over a period beginning a few years before Susan's marriage
SC30: of a primate jawbone unearthed in Burma
SC32: of a ship moving smoothly
SC43: of hill tribes ensconced in the virtually inaccessible mountain valleys
