Should I retake the GMAT all else considered?

Hi mbaMission,

I'm reaaaally hoping you can provide some feedback!

So I took the GMAT for the second time last week and scored a 690 (first time was a 650 over a year ago - was just not prepared). I am wondering though if I should retake it for a third time, as I have been scoring 710-720 on practice tests. Here is my score breakdown:

Q47, V38, IR8, AWA expecting between 5-6

This is the best I've done in quant but am usually around 45. Obviously, did not do so great in verbal and am usually around a 40-42. Granted, I have been putting a lot more emphasis on studying quant.

Given the rest of my profile, is it best to take the GMAT a third time and break 700?

- 27 year old male, Asian, native English speaker
- 5 years work experience. Been in consulting for 4 years now and am currently a management consultant at a top 4-5 consulting firm (outside of MBB). Also, I am receiving sponsorship from my firm.
- Have had great leadership and management experiences, both undergrad and professional.
- Good extracurriculars at work. Started a volunteer organization in college but have not had much time since college to do more community activities.
- Will be receiving strong recommendation letters

Hi there,

For best chances at top schools, I'd probably lean towards one more try... and since you performed higher on recent PT's I'd take it sooner rather than later. There's a certain margin of error or variance on any given day anyway; hopefully you could bump it up. Good luck!
