Are these the same?

Is 1/(3^5) equal to 3^(-5)?

If so, shouldn't 3^5 + 1/(3^5) = 1 ?

Thanks!!

1/3^5 = 3^-5

yes

3^5 + 1/(3^5) = 1 ?

no

Exponents are added only when bases are same and multiplied to each other.

(3^5)*(3^5) = 3^10

3^5 + 3^5 is not the same as above.

Let me know if you still have any doubts.
