Prep for GMAT

I plan to give my gmat in Sept-Oct. I am currently working. My job is alright. the timings are from 9:30-6:30 and i very rarely have to wait late. Do you think its necessary for me to quit my job?

First off, NO - you do not have to quit your job to study for the GMAT.

Since your post is a bit "thin" on information, if you can answer a few questions, then I'd be happy to advise:

1) What is your score goal?
2) Where do you want to apply to school?
3) Have you done any GMAT studying so far?
4) Have you taken any FULL-length practice CATs? If so, then what were your scores? If not, then you can download 2 practice CAT exams for free from www.mba.com. Plan to take 1 of them, in its entirety, then post back here with your results.

Hey so I plan to get a 700-720. I have prepared for about a month and a half-2 months.
I plan to apply to schools in the US as of now, the east Coast is preferred.

Hi RiyaR,

A 700+ score represents the 90th percentile, which means that 90% of Test Takers either can't or won't do what it takes to score at that level. The good news is that the GMAT is a consistent, standardized exam, so you CAN train to crush it.

Most Test Takers need 3 months (or more) of consistent study time to hit their respective "peak" scores, so I'm not sure if your planned study time is going to be enough.

Have you done any studying so far? Have you taken a full-length practice CAT yet?

Yes... I have studed for a month to two months..... I have given a mock full lenth exam.... I got a 620 in it. Where do I go from here? And what do you suggest?

Hi RiyaR,

What were the scores on that CAT (specifically the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)? Did you take the ENTIRE CAT (or did you skip the Essay and IR sections)?

What GMAT resources have you been using during your studies? Books? Classes/Tutor? etc.

Since you're not planning to take the GMAT for a few more months, you've got plenty of time to study and hit your goal.

I have taken classes and I have the OG, Kaplan, Manhattan Guide and ofcourse the Beat the GMAT Group. I took the whole test including the starting two sections

I still need to know your Scaled Scores for the Quant and Verbal sections for that CAT (the one that you scored 620 on). That information will give me a better sense of your strengths and weaknesses; it will also point out the areas that you need to work on.
