Hi aditya8062,

This SC has an "interpretational problem" built into it.

We know that two genes were extracted, so we have a plural noun, but its not clear if the process of isolating the two genes was 1 research project or 2 separate research projects. Furthermore, it's not clear if the two genes will require 1 patent or 2 patents and if they will make up 1 compound or two separate compounds.

What is the source of this SC?

hi rich
the source is veritas . i also doubt this question
to be specific option A look a lot weird to me
A says : Having extracted the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes from human DNA to isolate them as a research subject, Myriad Genetics feels it is entitled to its patent on the new DNA compound

the expression "it is entitled" seems wrong because in real life situation a person is entitled to patent of some discovery .so this expression ("it is entitled") seems lost

Rich is right - this is another terrible question from Veritas. I'd recommend that you stop using this source.

Another issue: "they feel they are entitled" is WAY too colloquial for a GMAT question. This is a construction commonly used in spoken English, but you would never see it on the real GMAT. The GMAT would say "they believe that they are entitled."
