Gmatprep Software

by crisprin117 » Tue May 06, 2014 9:55 am
Hello,

I've completed all the cats for MGMAT and the free Gmatprep software but want more practice before my upcoming exam. I was wondering if anyone can vouch for either the gmatprep exam pack 1 or the gmatprep question pack 1. I know the latter has explanations to questions and the first does not, but I was wondering if you can still take mock exams with the question pack...

Side Question, does anyone know how to generate a progress report for the exams in gmatprep much like when you practice questions without taking an exam. I want to know the difficulty I'm hitting and getting correct etc.

Thanks

Hi crisprin117,

While it's important to take full-length CATs during your studies (to measure your progress), taking lots of CATs will NOT make you a better Test Taker. A CAT is essentially a "measuring device" (just like a scale measures your weight; in that same way, standing on the scale every day will not help you to lose weight). As you continue your studies, you should plan on taking 1 CAT/week and spending the bulk of your time on practice problems, quizzes, review, etc.

There are two other sources for CATs that you might consider:
1) The 2 additional CATs that you can purchase from www.mba.com for $40
2) The 6 Kaplan CATs that come with the Kaplan Premier Book (on Amazon, I think it's under $30)

First let me say that I can vouch for both of those GMATPrep products. They are both worthwhile.

I am a big fan of the GMATPrep Pack 1. It does not have adaptive tests as it is more a question bank, but you can create your own sort of quizzes and they can be 37 questions and 41 questions long for each section if you like.

Interesting to see that you did not indicate that you had taken the Veritas Prep FREE Practice Exam. We are getting some really great feedback on this. You can find the exam at https://www.veritasprep.com/gmat/free-gmat-practice-test
