Disheartening Verbal Scores driving my score down

I have been constantly trying to improve my Verbal score in GMAT but I just dont seem to understand where the problem is. I have given the gmat once, and score 680 (Q-48, V-34), and after preparing for a month, I gave the third gmat prep mock test, and apparently my verbal scores have become even worse, as i scored 670 (Q-49, V-32). My aim is to score 710+ as its the median score for HEC's MIF among other Masters in Finance programs. I know that GMAT score is only a part of the application process but I wish to excel it so that its not the aspect of my application thats lacking behind.

Any suggestion, ebooks, etc that can help me improve as I have only 10 more days left for my GMAT...

The V34 and V32 are remarkably close scores, so you should be taking a good look at WHY you're getting questions wrong. Also, it's important to ask what are you specifically doing when you get questions correct? Based on your scores, my first thought is that you're "narrowing it down to 2 choices and then guessing" too often. To bump up your Verbal score to the high 30s or 40s, you'll need more precision in your work.

Unfortunately, 10 days is not a lot of time to learn and master new tactics. Do you have any flexibility in your schedule to push your Test Date back a month?

Hi Suryanshuhooda,

Your Quant score is motivating but you definitely need to improve your verbal score.
If you could score somewhere near 40 on Verbal, you may reach your target score of 700.
For this, the first step will be identifying your weak area out of the three categories: SC, CR and RC.
For instance, most of the people have a problem with Reading Comprehension. You will know your weak area once you analyse and review the two mocks that you took.
Once you know you weak area, you should focus on that particular area for next few days, let's say a week. This would essentially mean that you do 3-4 one hour long practice sessions of that particular area alongwith anything else that you had planned.
Now the choice is all yours, either you can really push the limits and achieve this in next 9 days or you can actually postpone, as suggested by Rich. In any case, what I definitely won't suggest is you go without the confidence needed to ace GMAT verbal and hence overall GMAT Test.

Always learn the concepts first. Take as much time to learn them as you need. Buy all the books you have to buy but build a solid base first.
