Cornell One Year MBA x MIT SCM

by marcosmt » Wed Feb 05, 2014 11:26 am
Hi,

I would like to know your thoughts on Cornell One Yr MBA vs MIT SCM (Masters in Logistics and Supply Chain).

I have been admited from both programs and I have to decide which one to take.

My profile:

Brazilian, 32 years old
Bachelor in Law
Bachelor in Economics
Certificate in Finance (UC Berkeley)
Work for my Family Business as Executive Manager in Logistics and Transportation industry in Brazil
After gradutaion I will come back to my current job (no recruitment)

My question is: From which program can I benefit more in my case?

Thanks in advance,

Obviously, I'm biased, but I think an MBA degree is broader than a degree in Supply Chain Management. If you haven't already, I would encourage you to reach out to current students in each program. You can find students in our One Year program directly, (www.johnson.cornell.edu/Full-Time-MBA/Connect.aspx) or by clicking on the Connect with Johnson button on our homepage. Don't hesitate to reach out to your application manager, or anyone in admissions if you have questions or need help finding a current student.

I think given your circumstances, MIT SCM should be preferred. I don't know about Brazil but in most foreign countries, MIT's brand goes a long way. Moreover, since you plan to go back into your family business of logistics, I think you will benefit immensely from the highly specialized training and the excellent curriculum at MIT. I have sent you a PM and would highly appreciate if you could respond to it.

Best of luck.
