3rd round

by Oneva » Thu Jan 02, 2014 2:14 pm
Hi all,

I was wondering if I could ask for some solid advice. I wanted to apply to Tepper in 3rd round. Would that be alright or should I just wait for next year? I know that with 3rd round the acceptance chances are low and if I get rejected this year I would have to wait for the next 2 years to reapply.

I was also hoping to get some advice on what schools would be good for 3rd round.

Specs:

GMAT: 720
Almuni: College of Holy Cross
GPA: 3.27
Work Exp: 52 months in Agricultural Supply chain
Extracurricular activities: Volunteer at PBP

Aiming for school types: International exposure, Business Analytics, Investment Funds.

I have already sent in Apps to:
Columbia
NYU
HKUST
Berkeley
CEIBS
Stanford

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey there,

Unless you have some specific, pressing reason to apply this year for a start in Fall 2014, I would suggest waiting. You have pretty decent stats from the look of it and you're targeting some good schools so don't rush things. R3 is definitely not the best option and if you can start a year later, go for R1 when you have the time and energy to pursue a strong application and school strategy.

You have a good GMAT score and a decent GPA as well. Also your work experience in terms of number of years is fine. But you haven't mentioned anything about you leadership experience and also I find you are very less into extracurricular. These things are considerably looked upon by B-schools. So its really difficult to evaluate you profile properly based on the information provided by you. Talking about R3, it's a real difficult shot to take until unless you possess all the qualities as they have been looking for. So all you need is a pretty solid essay to showcase all your talent and you could end up in the school of your choice. Good Luck!

Oh, if you would have to wait two years and you would prefer to go now, I'd say go for it!

One question though: Why would you have to wait TWO years? and not just till September to apply?
