Chances at HBS 2+2, Stanford deferred?

by cubecul » Mon Feb 17, 2014 11:00 am
Hi,

I'm a current junior deciding whether or not to pursue the Fall 2014 deadlines for HBS 2+2 and Stanford deferred enrollment. I haven't yet taken the GMAT, but I have a strong feeling that I will be 700+ material. Given my profile and assuming a 700+ GMAT, what would be my chances at these two programs?

Asian male
Current junior at a top 15 university, graduating in 2015 with a BA in political science, MS in computer science
3.72 GPA
Sophomore summer at a market research company
Junior summer (upcoming) at a highly funded, pre-IPO tech company, BD role
At least two strong recommendations, one from partner in a failed startup, one from political science research experience
ECs: Junior Achievement, two student businesses (web design, Groupon clone), fraternity position (raised $15k+)
Goal: Either an education startup in B-school if it works out, otherwise product/strategy in a tech company

Thank you!

Well both of those programs are always tough for anyone. First they tend to take people with just a BA over those who have an MA, buuuut what is good at least for HBS is that your MA is from a STEM program, and the 2+2 is really designed for STEM students. You have enough other stuff in your profile, that if you can beat a 700 (720+ would be better) it'd certainly be worth giving it a shot.
