A request to all the members-Help me smile.

I never took my kaplan classes seriously. I worked for about 35days all together and gave my GMAT on the 31st of july. I ended up with a 600. I was dissapointed. Prior to my exam on the 31st of july,2008, I gave 4 Mc.graw Hill's Gmat tests (CAT). In my first test i got a 600. In the second test I got a 640. In the third test I got a 660 and in the 4th test I got a 670. I do need to make a confession over here. I never tried the power prep.I tried my best to get the power prep CD but couldnt manage to get it. My father was devastated. But he couldnt see me upset. He said I would do very good on my second attempt. The first time when I gave my GMAT (31st july,2008), I had just 1 month to prepare. During those 35 days, I completed the following books:
1) OG-QUANTS;
2)OG-VERBAL;
3)OG-11th edition;
4)KAPLAN COURSE BOOK;
5)KAPLAN 800.

I did not know about "beatthegmat.org" then. Now though I do. I am willing to give it my all. I am willing to work as much as anyone can and most importantly willing to learn from my mistakes.

GMAT-600(Q48,V23, AWA 5.5)

I always did very well in verbal. I was shocked to see my verbal score. I was always confident of doing good in verbal. But on the day I wrote my exam I guess the nerves got the better of me. I am requesting the members who have won over the GMAT to help me realise my dream of getting a 730 in the GMAT. This time I want to make my dad proud. Want him to smile. Want you guys to help me. I would be very glad if you could provide me with a plan and also list out the "most essential" of things to be done while preparing for the GMAT. Please help me.

Hi Sanju,

I can understand how you feel as I went through the same experience. If you read the preparations and plan chartered out Eric, Mayonnie, nfugo (to name a few), you will realize that a systematic approach and perseverance can take you where you want to be. I didn't plan my preparations well and that was my mistake. I used to study whatever material I got and never used to really really understand why my answer was wrong to a particular question. As some of the people in this forum would point out, it is not enough if we find out the right answer. It is very very important we find out why the wrong answer is wrong. You got to master the fundamentals. In the same way, you got to find out where you went wrong first and attack the same.

My 2 cents to you - find out where you went wrong - is it stress or basics or oblivion..whatever it is. Find it out and then start working on it. Once you do that, you will feel more comfortable with your preparations. I am going to do the same.

Don't worry, with peserverance,hard work and RIGHT pratice - you will achieve what you want! All the best with your preparation.

Take care,
Shree.
