How, considering your career progress to date, does an MBA fit in with your future career goals? Please describe. ( only the first 250 words in the answer will be read)
My long term career goal is to become a founder and CEO of an innovative EPC firm. Before reaching there I want to become vice-president of one of the leading EPC companies (such as Jacobs Engineering or Fluor Corporation or Samsung Engineering). I plan to achieve that position after acquiring the necessary tools and experience required to manage a large-scale global business by completing my MBA, starting as Project Manager and working my way up.
Working at India's largest thermal power plant, I got an opportunity to coordinate with an EPC for the erection and commissioning of 400KV switchyard. I was fascinated by the current and future prospects and the contribution I can make in the industry. This fascination tempted me to switch my job form power to EPC industry. Working in the EPC, I took my time to gain as much knowledge as possible but soon understood that apart from technical knowledge I need knowledge of Business and Management.
To achieve my long term goal, I'll need to gain strong general management skills. The finance and marketing foundations will compensate for my inexperience in these fields. The general management education I'll acquire from MBA will broaden my view and give me the tools to leverage my experience and create a successful company.
