Choosing the best MiM program

Hi everyone!

I've been following a few discussions on this forum and thought that I could get some practical advice from all the experienced members here regarding the choice of the business school which I'll have to make very soon.

I'll soon be done with my Bachelor degree in a top Polish Business school. My work experience is not very extensive, but I've managed to do a few summer internships, of which one was in a tier 1 consulting company. At the same time I've been quite active in the University life being a part of the Student Council and participating in organizing an important economic forum at the Uni. I've also done one semester abroad if it can be counted as extracurricular activity.

So now I'd like to pursue a MiM degree somewhere in Europe with a goal of landing with a job in strategy consulting either in one of the top consulting companies or in-house consultancies of international corporations. I've managed to get GMAT of 710 and my GPA is pretty high as well, so I hope to have good chances for most of the top business schools that offer MiM degrees.

I have a few things on my mind that would definitely affect my choice. For example I'd prefer to have a class of not more than 100 students cause I'm a big fan of interactive classes and not just formal lectures. Also the reputation of the school and especially the opportunities for non-EU citizens after graduation would be an essential factor. And, of course, the cost of the program will make a big difference for me or maybe a possibility of getting a scholarship.

I'd be very thankful for your opinions/recommendations regarding the programs that are now available in best European schools, cause at the moment I'm still quite confused.

Hi aplic89, just read your post and thought that my opinion could be of some help. I've heard from a friend of mine who studies now at St. Gallen that SIM is a great program especially considering that you are aiming for consulting later.

From all the stories I've heard their group should be not bigger than 50 students and everyone knows each other quite well after the first semester, especially considering the amount of group work required. As there are not so many people, the classes are very interactive and active discussions are highly encouraged (sometimes it's a part of the grade). What I was really jealous about were all the corporate events and guest lecturers coming just for SIM students cause that's a great way to learn and network at the same time. I think my friend got a few interviews for his Master Thesis through that kind of events which was difficult to do otherwise.

Regarding the process of job-seeking after the graduation, I should say it's very different for every case. I guess this program opens a lot of doors, but what you do with it is already up to you and depends on what you want. If you know German everything becomes much easier of course, but it doesn't mean that you can't find your dream job if you don't. You'll just have to put much more time and effort into that.

So my personal advice would be to have a look at the top FT programs, and pay special attention to SIM cause it seems very similar to what you are looking for.Good luck with making the right choice:)
