I am An Indian male,24 years old & Following are my stats.

Undergraduate:Mechanical Engineering From IIT Roorkee in 2012 with a GPA of 6.55/10. passed in first division.

Work Experience: Currently 18 months of total experience at Energo Engineering Projects Ltd. as ASST. MANAGER,was hired straight out of college.1 promotion in 18 months. Work basically focuses on Project Management & Engineering

GMAT : 740

Extra-Curr : Coordinator and co-coordinator of various technical and non-technical events of our college.
Teaching underprivileged kids during college time

Target: career change and make foray into marketing & Entertainment sector.
target schools : 10 to 30 globally ranked schools like duke,nyu,ucla

My question is that I have an opportunity to work 1 year as a fellow in a social ector enterprise and i will working directly under Members of parliament. My concern is does this count as valid work experience and does that add to application or make me look confusing as my future goals are concentrated over marketing and Entertainment sector.

So regarding your question, my first piece of advice is to make the choice that you want regardless of the MBA. Every position can bring you something valuable towards the MBA, and every position will offer you some sort of opportunity to contribute. Specifically your offer seems like a good one. I mean, a member of parliament! How can that be bad? And it's also no problem at all that you are changing industries (all career stories can be made logical), the question is for you: what do you REALLY want to do? Is this taking you in a direction you want to go?

If so, then don't think twice about it. It counts as valid work experience and any change you make can be explained.
