Which B-School for "Impact Investing"?

by MaximusMB » Sat Oct 19, 2013 3:09 pm
Hi,

Which B-Schools have the strongest focus on "impact investing"?

I am a 29 yr old Norwegian working as an investment analyst in a PE company investing in Agribusiness in East Africa. As I would like to work in this field at a higher level (investment manager) I aim to complete a strong MBA-program beginning fall 2014. Short term ambitions after MBA would be to work in a traditional PE firm, IB or Consulting to obtain sufficient tools to thrive in the above mentioned interest.

In this quest I would surely appreciate feedback on which B-schools that could be a good fit for me.

Some additional info:

- I completed a BBA in Norway (including one year exchange in France w/honors), and a MSc in Political Economy (2010) with a thesis on Microfinance (grades comparable with a GPA 3,3-5)
- Worked 1 yr in a norwegian DFI (portfolio: $1.5 bn), 1,5 yr as a financial reporter in an international news agency (including being a commentator in the largest Norwegian news channel), 1 year with a startup (set up office outside of Nice, France - was nominated the best Nordic startup 2012) and now working in an East Africa focus investment fund.
- Speak 4 languages (Norwegian, English, French and Spanish - lived several months in Peru)
- Have had various voluntary works, among others as a political writer affecting strong results for one of the national parties.

So far I have not taken the GMAT, but have signed up in the beginning of november and are aiming for a score around 700 (somewhat suffering from some time constraints).

Best regards,
Magnus

PS. I can add that I so far have looked more into programs at Stanford, Haas, Wharton, CBS, MIT, Stern, Tuck, Booth and Cornell.
