Hi everyone,

I took the GMAT once a few months ago, and did not achieve a grade I'm satisfied with. I was stressed on the test day and scored below all my expected grades of around 650-680 (I got 600).
I plan on taking the GMAT again in early December, and want to study for the upcoming 2 months, mostly focusing on the verbal section. This time the goal is 720-730, and I know this can be done successfully !

Before taking the first test, I took the Kaplan on-demand course, which was decent but not very good. I don't mind taking another course but don't want to spend precious time on math. I can study by my own if necessary.

I'd be happy to get your advice on the best approach, including courses and self-study material, in order to meet my goal.
Thank you !

Hi nectarg,

It's understandable that you might want to focus on one section of the GMAT (in this case, the Verbal), but to score 720+, you need to have strong scores in BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections (stronger than the ones you had on your CATs). Assuming that you can raise your Quant score on your own is a dicey assumption at this point, so I was hoping that you could provide a bit more information.

What were your Scaled Scores on each of your CATs and on your Official GMAT?

Hi Rich,
Thanks for quickly responding.

My official GMAT was Q44 V30 but in all CATs I was getting around Q48-Q50, so while I plan to continue studying for the quantitative, I think most of my focus will need to be on the verbal section. I plan on using the advanced quant (by Manhattan I believe) to further improve my quant above 700.

Does that make sense ? I need to make a big improvement on the verbal but a period of 60 days appears as sufficient, I hope.
Would very much appreciate any advice and practical suggestions.

Many thanks
