Day 23 - no practice?

by shakas » Wed Oct 09, 2013 6:32 am
Hi everyone,

I am following the 60-Day GMAT Study Guide, and I am at the day 23, which, in opposite to all the emails I have received until now, does not give practice. It may make sence since core concepts need to be understood first before diving into practice, but I need to make sure I got it right.

Also, I am working with MGMAT strategy guide, which at the end of the book give official guide problem sets, by chapter. Am I supposed to them right after have finished a chapter?

Thank you.

For other topics, the study guide suggests practice questions to reinforce what you learned that day. This learning strategy is difficult to apply to Sentence Correction questions. The reason for this is that almost all Sentence Correction questions test more than one concept. In fact, in most cases, they test a wide range of concepts.

So, for example, the given sentence may have an error with subject-verb agreement, and among the answer choices, one may have a verb tense error another a parallelism error, another a dangling modifier error, and so on.

Given the variety of different grammatical concepts that can be addressed in one question, it makes little sense to tackle practice questions until you've learned all of the required content.

For this reason, you won't begin tackling Official Guide questions until after you've completed all of the SC content.

Cheers,
Brent

That makes sense. Thank you Brent.

By the way, I bought all the module of GMATPrep, great set of materials. It helped me to go from 20 to 47 in Quant, in just a month. Whatever the results of my exam (in a month and a half) end up being, I will do a full review of my preparation, using the 60-Day Guide, MGMAT (only for verbal) and GMATPrep videos.

PS: somehow, I can't help but think that you are the one doing most of the talking in those videos (maybe I am mentally matching your picture with the voice I hear). Am I right? ^^

Hi Shakas,

I'm glad to hear the GMAT Prep Now videos are working for you!
Yes, you're right about the narration. I created (and narrated) all of the videos in the course.

Cheers,
Brent
