Just beat the GMAT, scored a 710, was hoping for a little better. Some sentence correction questions were REALLY tricky, and I guess RC continued to be my weakness at the test again. Thinking of taking the test again.

How good is 710 in terms of chances of getting to Ivy League schools?

If you are Indian and have a non stellar profile (top 10% of class in a top engg school, differentiated work ex) chances are average.

Congrats that's a great score!

What were your mock scores?
A good question also deserves a Thanks.

You got it right. I am Indian, and not really top 10%. What else will make for a 'stellar' profile is what I have to find out. Or my best bet might be another shot, and see if I can hit 750 or higher.

Thanks, but honestly I expected a little better. Barely any improvement from the mocks, I was hovering around 680 in mocks.

Hi abhi131,

A 710 is a fantastic score and it's highly unlikely that you would need to retest. You're not going to find the most accurate or pointed advice in this forum though. Try posting your questions in the Admissions Consulting forum. THOSE experts can give you a much more useful assessment of your overall application and chances at acceptance.

Got the official scores today:
Verbal 35
PS 45
AWA 6
IR 8

Are there ways and means to know some schools pay more attention to PS than to verbal and vice versa. How helpful will the IR and AWA score be in making my candidature stand out?

Abhi131 - Are you sure V35 and Q45 was a 710? I have a friend that took the test last week and with the same verbal/quant breakdown scored a 660? If you scored a 710 with the same score I will let them know that there could potentially be a mistake?

Hi abhi131,

I agree with Pioneer1010's assessment. Q45/V35 isn't a combo that would put you into the 700s. Did you transcribe your scores correctly?

My bad. It's V35/Q50. I re-checked. Thanks for pointing out.
