Unsuccessful attempt -2 in GMAT

Hi guys

Just wanted some thoughts from great intellectual minds on a dilemma that I facing.
I just gave my GMAT (attempt-2) and happened to score 700. While this score might sound decent to some people, the real problem here is the fact that it was my 2nd attempt and I ended up scoring the same as much I scored in my 1st attempt. In fact even the distribution of marks is also the same.

Shall I explicitly mention this case in the extenuating circumstances column as to why I could not manage to score over my 1st attempt. Also, to what extent it is deterrent as far as my application is concerned. I am targeting Top 15 schools.

KNOW WHAT?for me that score is good enough to apply to TOP schools. Better concentrate on your essays and recos.

Hi there,

Firstly, congrats on the 700! Let me answer this question by approaching it from a different angle. An optional essay is there to allow you to explain something nuanced in your application or something extenuating. Scoring the same score twice is by no means extenuating. The essay isn't there for you to make excuses or mention things passingly. So the question to you would be what would you even say about scoring the same twice? For one, you have a good score, and secondly, there is no circumstance to explain why you got the same score. You just did, that's it.

So no, don't address it. Don't even worry about it. No one will ask you. They'll think it statistically interesting at best - after all, who gets the same score AND split? Intriguing from an odds perspective but not worth mentioning.
