by sahai1987 » Fri Jul 26, 2013 6:10 am
Hello Team,

Request you to evaluate my profile for an MBA admit based on the stats below. It would be great if you could also help me understand how to improve the same.

GMAT - 740
Grad score - 66.7% over 4 years. B.E. in Electrical engineering.
Work ex - 4 years 10 months as on prospective joining date. Currently working as a Partner Consultant with Microsoft India.
CSR - Minor volunteer work with Microsoft India CSR division and some time as a volunteer for Teach for India during engineering.
Post MBA - Would preferably go in for IT consulting/Business Development for IT Organizations.

Please let me know if any other information is required.

Please evaluate keeping in mind that I would be applying only to the United States and Canada due to personal reasons.

Sahai-

As I am sure you are aware, your applicant pool is vast, with numerous Indian IT professionals trying for top US b-schools every year. The good news is, you have several things in your profile which could place you in the ballpark for being noticed amongst this competitive group. Not only do you post a top GMAT score (and one that will come in above average for most every b-school), you also have work experience at a globally recognized firm. Additionally, your post MBA goal will leverage well what you have already achieved and will leave admissions committees with very little reason to doubt you will achieve your goals. I don't think any schools on your list are truly out of reach as long as you can craft a compelling admissions package which conveys the passion behind why you like your chosen field and how their school plays an integral role in your achieving your future vision. Let us know if we can be helpful to that end.
