There are a lot of good reasons for both types of programs and they have their own cons as well. Generally speaking, however, part time programs are great for those looking to continue in the same career path or a very similar one and are looking to fill fundamental academic gaps. The chances for structured career services and extracurriculars are limited but you also don't have the much larger bill of a full time program.
On the other hand, if you're interested in the MBA experience or are adamant about switching career tracks, then a full time program gives you the involvement opportunities and internship capacity to help enable that. It also costs a pretty penny
