Although not official, from my testing I have seen as many as 7 wrong to get a perfect score, but realistically the number of problems is not as important as the difficulty of the problem.

Hi AbhiJ,

It does not help to report the average of missed answers for those who still scored Q51 or V44. The reason is the adaptive nature of GMAT Q and V. Every taker's test is different and the number of missed questions that will not bring down the score from the highest achievable depends on the characteristics of the missed questions and the questions one has answered correctly.

One thing is for sure that you do not have to answer every question correctly to get the highest achievable score in Q or V.

Hi Jim,

I have a question regarding your statement. Should one take 'more' care in getting the easy questions right or the difficult questions right? Which type of question penalizes the test taker more if he or she gets it wrong? Easy question or a difficult question?

Hello, sidceg.

Your GMAT score is based on both the number of questions you answer correctly, as well as the level of difficulty. I would disregard advice regarding how "many" questions you can get right or wrong, and instead focus your efforts on completing each question you encounter on the exam to the best of your ability.
