DAY 11 and its feeling good

by macattack » Thu Jul 11, 2013 5:49 am
Hi,
By way of introduction my name is Makram Chehayeb, 22 years old Lebanese, who just graduated from the American University of Beirut (AUB) with BEng. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. After graduation I joined a regional private equity outfit where I have been working as an analyst for 2 month. The world of Finance amazed me and I became really enthusiastic to pursue an advanced degree in financial techniques to better master the art of analysis. This being said I am hoping to apply to the MSc. in International Finance at HEC and the MSc. in Financial Economics at Oxford. Knowing that both school require the GMAT exam I was overwhelmed and didn't have an idea where to start or how to plan my studies. Luckily as I was surfing the web for answers I stumbled upon this forum and everything got smoother since then. I am currently following the 60-day study guide; it definitely all-rounded and motivating for any student who wants a bolt-on prep for that exam. I am currently in my 11th day of preparation reviewing Quant theories and strategies. Knowing that I come from a highly technical and computational background I am not facing any difficulties yet. However my main concern is the verbal part and I cant wait to start working on my verbal skill since I lack them big time. I did my fir GMAT prep exam and got a 620 (47Q-29V). Honestly I was disappointed but while doing the exam I was expecting a much lower grade. I need someone to reassure me that these difficulties in verbal can be beaten, I have faith in the guide I just need that extra push.
Good luck to you all.

They are going great I did my second Full length test yesterday (GMAT practice test 1) I got a 680 (49Q, 33V) way better than the 620 (47Q, 28V) I got on my first try. I am looking forward to beating the verbal section!!!
Thank you for the support Brent!
Best,
Makram
