The answer is indeed E.

rate of interest for B = 3/2 A's rate of interest.

A's principle amount=?

Statement I

Interest for 1 year, B=$150, A=$50

if A's rate of interest is 10%, then B's rate of interest will be 15%
if A's rate of interest is 20%, then B's rate of interest will be 30% and so on.
For the below formula we have many possibilities for the principle amount.
I= (P*r*t)/100

Therefore, Insufficient.

Statement II

B' amount = 2A's amount
We dont know anything about the specific rate of interest or time.
Therefore, Insufficient.

Statement I & II

We dont know anything about specific rate of interest or time or principle amount of B.

Hence Insufficient.

The answer is E.

If we were given the rate of interest of either B or A, i think we would be able to find A's investment, in that case answer would be either A or C. But for now the answer is E.
