HELP PLEASE!! Cant get a decent score,

by aasmm » Wed Aug 13, 2008 10:27 am
I dont know what I have been doing wrong, but I took the GMAT twice... first score 510, second score lower than 500
I've been studying for more than 3 months, 2 hours daily, with the Veritas Prep Course and some books of the princetown review

If you can give me some advice on how to get my score up, because I don't know what I'm doing wrong and dont see any real progress on either my GMAT and the exams Ive been taking at home (that comes with the courses,)

Thank You!!

My suggestion is to get slower before you get better. I found that sometims I tend to stagnate when I pound through as many questions as possible. Make each session worthwhile. I'd rather do 20 questions in a session and gain something from them, than get through 50 questions in a session.

For example, everyone should have a method for going through CR questions. I, for example, use the method oulined by the CR Bible. Whatever you use, however, write down the steps and keep that next to you as you do each CR problem. Go through every single step. You may get slower at first, but you will be drilling the method into your head every time to the point that it will be second nature.

Care to share your background information, what you studied undergrad and if you're englisg speakign native?

as someone beginning to study, I'm focusing on the basics and understanding how to identify the indivual types of questions and which strategy to use when disecting and breaking it down.
