Just took the GMAT. Q44 V69

I haven't received my AWA or integrated reasoning scores yet, and feel like I did quite well on them.

I have already submitted my application to SMU Cox School of Business, and was just awaiting my GMAT appointment.
My profile is:
8+ yrs as a Nuclear Mechanic in the navy.
BS in nuclear engineering technology, 3.77 gpa from excelsior college (ABET certified, regionally accredited online school)
I had my wife screen my essays, so they are spot on! (she is a doctor as UCLA, so she has a lot of essay experience)

Am I shooting for the stars, or do I have a decent shot at admission? I know I have a lot to offer, and if I retake the GMAT, i'm sure I could score better. My verbal score is pretty indicative of my abilities, however I REALLY screwed up some easy quantitative questions, even realizing it after clicking the wrong answer! :( My nerves got the best of me.

Anyways, I'm really just looking for some advice, maybe ground my expectations a little bit. Thanks!

Hello!
My advice would be to retake the GMAT to increase your chances for admission. SMU's average is a 643, with a middle 80 percent range of a 580-710. Remember, you can take the GMAT multiple times and admissions committees will only take the highest score.

Aside from that, the profile information you sent along looks strong. It looks like you have a high quality of work experience and a highly quantitative undergraduate major with a great GPA, which is above SMU's average.

I wish you all the best and look forward to helping out should you need additional admissions advice.

OP,
I just was accepted into the SMU program with a 2.53 GPA and a 580 GMAT as well. It can be done. I wrote all 3 essays and interviewed as well. I have 7 years of work experience mostly in management positions. You should have a great chance if I got in. Good Luck!
