Piku-

Thanks for your post. You have a good profile and seem to hit on all four key cyllinders of a potentially winning application by demonstrating 1) leadership 2) innovation 3) teamwork and 4) maturity. Your GMAT will be below average for your applicant pool, but likely well within the 80% range for most any if not all b-schools in the top tier. I always recommend people go to the best school they can get into, but there is so much more that goes into targeting which schools are right for you. You actually have the raw profile which would likely be attractive at any school. Let's put aside the fact you are applying from a very competitive pool (Male Indian Engineer) and just say your post MBA vision is too vague to point you at any particular program. Sounds like a general management program would suit you well given your experience in industry and your post MBA goal to lead in manufacturing and/or energy. This is perhaps the best clue you give to point you to a program. For this reason, I would recommend UT Austin, Duke(reach), UNC Keenan Flagler, Kellogg (reach) and Rice. One tip I would offer is that your long term goal does not seem in any way connected to your career nor to your short term plan, so you might consider recasting your long term goal as part of the broader thread of your achievements. I would also recommend you visit these schools over the summer or in the early fall to ascertain whether or not you feel the fit is right. hope this helps.

hey bryant,

thank you sir for your valuable feedback on my profile and also for suggesting me good b-schools.Yes , I expected that particular question about my long term career goal as I myself know there is no interim connection between my short term and long term career goal. But my long term career plan is more a vision than a goal that I developed about 4-5 years ago from my own personal experience and I am sure I can write a very good story about it , provided the adcom wants to hear some story beside professional excellence.I want a MBA at this point of time because of my zeal to broaden the scope of leadership as well as my hobby of traveling and I am sure MBA from a reputed school would help me achieve my them before my hair starts greying
Also , I would want you to brief me about my competitiveness in the following schools-
1> Carngie Mellon - Tepper
2> Pennsylvenia State univeristy-smeal
3> Ohio State University- Fisher
4> Texas - Austin and Mays
5> National University of Singapore
6> Michigan State University - Broad
7> San Diego State University
8> SUNY Buffalo

If you can do as you say and write a very good story about your vision, you should have a shot at those schools.
