Advice.....

by benpack03 » Thu Aug 07, 2008 1:01 pm
Hi All!

Its a pleasure to meet all of you. I had a few questions, I am a Civil Engineer with two engineering degrees from a top 25 engineering school. I only had a 2.8 in college but I have 10 years experinece and I am a liscenced Professional Engineer in North Carolina. I was hoping to get into UNC - Kenan Flagler (Carolina) and their average GMAT is 700. My question is with my experience could I technically score somewhat lower? I have never taken the GMAT, but I am thinking about signing up for the $1450 Kaplan course - which is in a live classrom setting. What do you think? Would this help me?

I appreciate the info!

Ben in North Carolina

Bear in mind that the average is 700, which means that a large percentage of the scores were sub 700. Also, many of the school's medians are lower than there averages.

Also, the GMAT is just one component that bus schools look at when deciding who gets admitted.

So, IMO, write the GMAT and then phone up the school and say "I got x on my GMAT, would you advise that I rewrite?"

Hope this helps.
