Profile Evaluation

by a_tanya82 » Wed Aug 06, 2008 6:13 am
Hi Stacy, Lisa

Would you be able to provide me some feedback on my profile? I am primarily targeting NYU Part-time Program and I know that my gmat is low for this program. Unfortunately I’ve spent 8 months studying for this test and just wasn’t able to perform as well as I did on the practice tests. I am lost and looking for some feedback.

Greatly appreciate your help.

School Background

Major – Computer Science
GPA – 3.85 (+) Summa Cum Laude distinction
Honors: Recipient of Reuters Information Technology, Inc, Industrial Partnership Program & Women in Science & Engineering (WISE) Scholarships

GMAT
620 45 Q, 31 V, 6.0 AWA.

I know this will be the weak point in the application, which is why I really need some direction as to if I stand a chance to gain admission.

Resume Highlights

2004- 2007 – I’ve worked in a financial firm for 3 years from 2004-2007 as an IT Developer. Promoted to Senior Developer in Jan 2007

June 2007 – Present – I moved to a competitor financial firm as a Senior Business Analyst in a Project Management team. Promoted to the AVP officer title within 6 months with the team (in Jan 2008)

Extracurricular

I am socially very active. I am a volunteer for an education association and as well as contribute to habitat for humanity. I am also culturally active in our community. I also a member of the women's group at work and volunteer at panel discussions.

I am not sure if the information provided here is sufficient for you to guide me? I am not sure if I should even apply with the low GMAT score.

I would greatly appreciate any help/insight.

Thank you all your time!
Tanya
