Realistic Time Needed to Study

Hey all,

I'm planning to start studying for my GMAT in mid-September. I do work full-time and do some marking for courses, so I realistically have 3 hours to study during week days and 6-8 hours on weekends (Sat, Sun). I am hoping to write my GMAT in the 3rd week of December.

Is three months enough time to go through the material? My first language is English, I have a BA in Criminology and a Masters in Accounting.

I have the following books, but haven't started:
OG 11 (all 3 books)
Powerscore CR Bible
MGMAT books

Hi derek,

Honestly, it really depends on you - how dedicated you are to getting the most out of your studying time, how much natural aptitude you have for testing the "GMAT way," your foundation in basic grammar and math, and etc. I've had many students study for two months or so and score 700+, and I've had almost as many students study for the same amount of time and not improve at all.

So to answer your question, there's no definitive answer. On average, students can expect to go up about 80 points with an "average" level of aptitude and dedication.
