All of the stocks on the over the counter market are deisgnated by either a 4-letter or a 5-letter code that is created by using the 26 letteres of the alphabet. Which of the following gives the maximum number of the different stocks that can be designated with these codes?
1)2(26^5)
2) 26(26^4)
3) 27(26^4)
4)26(26^5)
5)27(26^5)

here goes the answer its C

Max number of 4 letter code out of 26 is 26^4
similarly max number of letter code is 26^5

As the question uses the word"OR".. we need to add the above two ..

there fore its 26^4 + 26^5

take 26^4 common

26^4 ( 1+ 26)

hence its 27* 26^4.
