Hi,

Sounds like you have an interesting background and have started thinking through 'why an MBA' and your goals for the future which is important. Based on the info you provided, it sounds like you will have some strong work experience to draw from both on the application and within the program, and it's good that you've started to crystallize what your post-MBA goals are. Be sure to take some times to further differentiate your short and long term post MBA goals for your application, and how the international business side of things that you mentioned fits into your goals.

Your GMAT is respectable and puts you within a realistic average level for most of the schools you have listed. FYI Georgetown might be more in the top part of your list, and also Boston College would likely bump up to the 2nd level. But generally many of these would be possibilities for you based on the info PROVIDED HERE, which means that the ultimate decisions would be based more on your subjective areas of application essays, recommendations, interviews. Having a higher than average GMAT score which you would at some but not all of those you lifted as 'safety' schools would give you an extra boost in your chances, though you still need strong essays to support that score. SMU would probably be closest to a true 'safety' school here where your chances are strongest.

Keep in mind that based upon how much time you have to work on applications, most applicants find that they don't have the capacity to apply to more than 4-6 schools max, as you do have to tailor your essays to each application. So I encourage you to do some more research into the programs you are interested in (based on strengths, location, class size and profile, etc... if very focused on marketing-- keep that in mind; Emory & Georgetown are strong in marketing for example but you can definitely focus on it at any MBA program).

Good luck on the process!
