Hi,

I graduated in Bachelors of Technology(Electronics 7 communication) from AMITY UNIVERSITY, Noida , India in the year 2012. Below are the details.

Degree : B.Tech Electronics & communication engineering
College CGPA : 6.7

Secondary School : 90%
Senior Secondary : 75%
GMAT Score : 690

I am Jivesh.
I was recruited into an IT company in the campus recruitment in 2012 after my graduation. I'm currently working for the same company from last one year. Apart from my professional experience I've also been involved with an NGO for about 2 years. My co-curricular activities include being best athlete for 2 consecutive years in my school and various debate and drama competitions. My research paper on Multi-core processors has been published in a national conference in India. I am also involved in organising team activities in my team at work.

I currently have a one year experience and want to get admission for the 2014-16 batch.
By the time the course begins in Aug 2014 i'll be having 2+ years of work experience(27-28 months).
The schools on my wish list include Indian School of Business, Michigan ross school of business, UCLA Anderson , University of Rochester: Simon, National University of Singapore Business School and Nanyang Business School and Nanyang Technological University.

On my research I have found that schools generally prefer to accept a student with 2 years of work experience. I would like to apply for R1 applications in Oct tentatively for the aug 2014 semester but i would have only 17 months of work experience at the time of application although by the time the semester starts i would have completed two years. Could you clarify this for me?
I am planning go for the above mentioned schools only if a get suitable scholarships. Do u think that is possible with my profile? Also, I would like to know if there are any ways that i can improve my profile?

Jivish-

My commentary will apply to the US based top business schools you mentioned as I am not positive about international requirements.

In the US, your 17 months at time of application for the caliber of school you are applying to would really hurt you. I am wondering why you can not wait and get 1-2 more years of experience? A top US business school will want to know "Why do you need an MBA? And, why Now." You must first be able to answer that question in a compelling way before you should think about applying. The AdCom looks for people who have a compelling reason to be there.

Some further questions:

College CGPA : 6.7- what does this translate to in US GPA? You will want a 3.5 as an average/minimum

I was recruited into an IT company in the campus recruitment in 2012 after my graduation. I'm currently working for the same company from last one year. Apart from my professional experience I've also been involved with an NGO for about 2 years: Tell me what do you do at the IT company? Have you progressed while there? Promoted? Any leadership experience? Where have you show initiative and innovation? As well, what is your role with the NGO?

My co-curricular activities include being best athlete for 2 consecutive years in my school and various debate and drama competitions: What do you mean by best athlete? In what sport? And, by what measure do you rate as best athlete?

My research paper on Multi-core processors has been published in a national conference in India: this is excellent.

Also, I would like to know if there are any ways that i can improve my profile?:
1-You will want to be working now to cultivate outstanding letters of recommendation. People who will write with passion about how you are an exceptional MBA candidate, and that they would 100% recommend you because of your intelligence, leadership, initiate, forward thinking, etc.
2-You also want to start thinking about "Why Jivesh?" Answer for yourself as if you are talking to the AdCom, what differentiates you from the competition? What makes you a compelling candidate? How will you add value to the classroom and your classmates?
3-Also, answer why you selected each school? Why are you a particular fit for each?

Best of Luck
