Combination problems

by [email protected] » Fri Aug 01, 2008 4:02 am
Hi

I know this is a combination problem but still not sure how to solve it, can anyone shed some light please?

7 basketball teams with five players each are at a tournament. If each player shakes hands with every other player NOT on his own team, how many
handshakes take place?

OA - 525

thanks again!

Here is how I do this, without combinations:
1st team: 5x30 (35guys less the 5 of the 1st team so 30 hands for each one)
2nd team: 5x25
3rd team: 5x20
4th team: 5x15
5th team: 5x10
6th team 5x5
7th team, already shaked every other guys

So 5x105
