Radius of the medallion = r
Width of the metal frame = s
So, radius of the central glass piece = (r - s)

Area of the metal frame = area of the medallion - area of the central glass piece = πr² - π(r - s)² = πr² - π(r² - 2rs + s²) = πr² - πr² + 2πrs - πs² = 2πrs - πs² = πs(2r - s)

The correct answer is E.
