Hi,
I posted a thread a while back about admission to my list of schools I am interested. Here is my story:
"Graduated from UC Merced with a BS in Biological Science. I went through a career change and now work in the Entertainment and Fashion industry in the marketing sector. I want to start my own Marketing and PR firm in the future and feel that obtaining an MBA can provide me the tools and education in running a business. However, my undergraduate degree GPA is very low. When I graduated I had a 2.4 GPA, but have taken upper-division courses at a 4 year university to have an additional transcript for graduate programs to consider. I calculated my overall GPA with the additional courses and have exactly a GPA of 3.0. I took significant course while working (like economics, Marketing, Calculus, Stats, etc). Have a GMAT score of 590 (going to retake the test and hoping to get at least 690 or above)
I have worked for an Entertainment and Luxury Marketing/Advertising/Public Relations firm with offices in LA, NY, and London called ID Public Relations for about 3 years now, 4 years when I matriculate. I have moved up the ranks since I started at the firm, went from being a Junior Account Executive (entry level; basically an assistant) to Account Executive in the Entertainment Marketing and Event Production departments in the company"
I have recently done some research on HEC Paris, ESSEC Business School, SDA Bocconi, and Imperial MBA and I really think these schools are a good fit for me since my passion for the Luxury and Fashion industry are in the vicinity of these schools. I know that some of these these schools are really competitive and possible out of my reach, but I also heard from other students, that go to these school, that they look at everything and they will consider the GMAT more than the GPA. I also heard that they consider the amount of years of work experience. Since I am confident that I will do well when I take the GMAT again (which I will take in August, plan on applying for the intake of 2014 or possibly 2015), I feel that I can possibly have a shot at admission. I just wanted to see what you think of these schools and my chances? I remember you saying HEC Paris could be a good fit so I am just making sure if any of these school would be a good idea to add to my list.
Thank you
