Few confusions. Can you explain me pls?

"The increased popularity and availability of televisions" - Plural. How would "has" come after that.

I got why B is wrong. "that" is for singular. If "those" comes, it will be correct.

But can you please explain me why D is correct and C is wrong.

IMO D.

I agree the orignal sentence should have had a 'have' rather than 'has.

The part of the sentence not underlined says
"The increased popularity and availability of televisions has led to the decline of regional dialects, language variations "
the part to follow is decribing the local dialects as language varitions_____.
Now if we plug in C option, we get something like
"regional dialects, language variations originated from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated" the word originated does not automatically seem to describe a property of the language variations, don u feel like having a which inserted here, the question I would like the sentence to answer is "which local variation".....the answer is those originating in .......but in the flow, we can directly use gereund originating to modify variations and eliminate "those".
Hence a D
