Schools shortlisting Required

by anup.shesh » Sun Mar 17, 2013 1:22 am
I am in search for the best "Full-time MBA" programs that will have following as a part of curriculum and/or club activities (starting with maximum priority).

"Social Entrepreneurship" + "Tourism Management" + "Public Policy"

These are all very different things!!!
And I think that all schools will have resources for you to follow the first and the third item, but tourism management is really different from the above. There are of course schools that focus on hospitality, (most notable is Cornell), but I think that three focuses might be a bit too many, and it might be better for you to decide what you wish to pursue BEFORE you make your school selection.

For Social entrepreneurship - Stanford, Haas, HBS, Yale are considered top programs, and for Public Policy - HBS, John Hopkins, Georgetown, Columbia...
Hopes this helps you get started!!!!

But like I wrote, you may want to choose ONE direction before you make up your short list. It will make things easier for you...

Thanks for the response and kind suggestions :)

Here is my brief background that will help to my motivation for MBA.

After MBA, I wish to establish my own venture in 'Socially Responsible Tourism'. I already have a certificate in 'Sustainable Tourism Management', which is jointly awarded by The International Eco-tourism Society and George Washington University. But I don't have any exposure to Entrepreneurship and I also lack practical experience in Tourism industry (I am a Mining engineer by profession - MBA for me also means career change).

So, from academic point of view, I would like to mainly concentrate on 'Social Entrepreneurship'. On the other hand, to help me successfully launch my Tourism venture, I would require the best possible network. And since Tourism is sensitive to policies and regulations, I would like to study Public Policy at least 'broadly', if not concentration.

Anup,
I see!! That is very ambitious of you!!! I would agree with you in saying that the "Social Entrepreneurship" part of the thing is most important - the tourism stuff, you will have to learn as you go along (and perhaps partner up with someone who knows it well), so I would start there, but definitely consider Cornell as a good option for you to, because maybe you can pick up some good contacts or skills by attending their program
