Hi,
I have a very basic doubt on possessive pronouns.
SC Q115 OG10
From the time of its defeat by the Germans in 1940 until its liberation in 1944, France was a bitter and divided country; a kind of civil war raged in the Vichy government between those who wanted to collaborate with the Nazis with those who opposed them.
here its the possessive pronoun clearly refers to France. But is France in Subject/Object case, if yes can a possessive pronoun refer to France. What ensures that its is the PP for France.
I know I my understanding is not correct. Can someone help with this.
Thanks
Amit
