I understand they got there answer but 12*30=360

and if you do 50miles*5hours = a distance of 250

250/360 = 25/36

But i thought they are asking for the amount of gasoline used? Like comparison to gallons? If not, then why give the fact of 1 gallon to 30 miles.



No idea.

Fraction of gasoline used is : (25/3)/12
=25/36

The answer should be bet. 15 nd 200.
i.e n*(n+1) >15 the smallest no tat satisfies this is 4 (4*5=20)
nd n*(n+1)<200 the largest no tat satisfies this is 13 (13*14=182)
14 cannot be the answer coz (14*15=210) which does not satisfy the condition

Okay, It might be late, but I don't understand how you are getting the 25/3 ?!? Isn't 250/30 giving you the amount of gasoline consumed?

EDIT: NVM you removed the 0 from each number. But see I did 25/3=8.33/12=wich reduces to 2/3..how did you know to put muliple the 12*3 to get 25/36??

This is how we get 25/3 --> it was informed in the question that the car travels for 5 hour at 50 mph. From this information we calculate the distance in 5 hour = 5 hour X 50 mph = 250 miles

And the car consumes 1 gallon of gasoline every 30 miles.

So, in order to calculate the amount of gasoline used, we have to divide 250 miles/30 miles = 25/3 gallon (this is the fuel needed for 5 hour travel at 50 mph)

The fraction is (25/3)/12 = 25/36

Standard deviation = 0.3

1.5 standard deviation = 0.45

8.1 + 0.45 = 8.55

8.1-0.45 = 7.65

Any value which fall in with in this range will be counted. Therefore only one value is left out i.e. 7.51.


I guess others have done a pretty good job answering the other questions.
