Hi everyone,
I'm looking to solicit a little advice for some studying strategies.
My story:
I'm an engineer-turned-project-manager and have been in the working world for almost six years. Back in March, I enrolled in a 3-month Kaplan GMAT class. My study materials consisted of the Kaplan books, Kaplan CATs, OG11 and GMATprep tests. I was scoring in the high 600s to 700s on my practice tests, but only scored a 640 (quant 43, verbal 35, 5.5 on the essays) during the actual exam (which I took in June). Then, I took a week off.
I've scheduled to retake the exam in mid-August. Based on the forums, I bought the Manhattan GMAT books on sentence correction, fraction, decimals and percents, and number properties. I also bought the quantitative and verbal supplemental OGs and the Kaplan 800. Thus far, I've taken two of the MGMAT CATs (680- 47Q, 36V and 660 47Q, 33V). I would say my biggest weaknesses are number properties and sentence correction. Also, after reading a lot of posts I've noticed that people have stressed not necessarily doing a lot of problems, but rather really understanding the basics. For me, I feel productive when I'm doing a lot of problems, but am starting to see this is not a way of working smarter, just harder.
I think I just need to focus on basics plus some harder problems. My goal is really to be somewhere in the 700s. I'd appreciate any advice you might be able to provide.
Thanks.
