Let me explain my current situation. I recently purchased a house, have a ton of debt, and am married with 3 small children. I would rather only take classes in the evenings, and there is only one institution close to me which I could do so: the University of North Florida. While the networking there may be good, I don't believe the professors and/or the quality of education would be as good as my other choices. The tuition is also by far the cheapest for this institution as it would only cost me about $18,000 for my MBA.
My other 2 options are both online: the University of Florida online MBA (which I MAY be able to go to campus full time for but it's a good 60-90 minute drive) or the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler online MBA. The UF MBA would cost about $40-50k in tuition and average starting salary is around 73k per year while the UNC tuition is by far the most expensive at around 90k but the average starting salary for their MBA students is $100k.
I currently work for Citi but my work experience is in something call center related instead of banking or finance related. I also deeply enjoy sports and would like to work in a front office or athletic department if an opportunity became available.
I suppose I'm asking your advice. I'm 30 years old and have 10 years of work experience in my field, but it's only relevant to call centers. I have minimal management experience and want to get to a point professionally and financially where I feel worthwhile in my career. I currently make around $50k per year and am looking for a large increase in pay afterwards and greater opportunities professionally. I know I'm very intelligent and personable and have great leadership abilities, I've simply never been provided with the opportunity to display them. Any advice and/or comments you have for my situation are greatly appreciated.
